Where is Celebration held?
Celebration events occur in several venues. Dance performances are held at Centennial Hall and the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall in downtown Juneau. The Native Artist Market is located at Atnané Hít (Sealaska Heritage Arts Campus) and the surrounding plaza. The Juried Art Show is located at SHI’s Nathan Jackson Gallery in the Walter Soboleff Building, and the Juried Youth Art Exhibit is on display at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center across from Centennial Hall.
Who is invited to attend?
SHI welcomes the general public to Celebration as part of its goal to promote cross-cultural understanding. The media is also invited to cover Celebration (see photo & recording policy).
How do I buy tickets?
SHI will begin selling four-day passes (not daily admission tickets) on the Monday and Tuesday prior to when Celebration opens on Wednesday. From Wednesday to Saturday, daily tickets and four-day passes will be available only at Centennial Hall and the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall. Cash and credit and debit cards are accepted at Centennial Hall. Only credit and debit cards are accepted at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall.
May I photograph or videotape the event?
Tribal members may photograph or videotape the event for personal use and do not need to register. The news media is welcome to cover Celebration but must sign SHI’s registry at the information booth at Centennial Hall and wear a press badge, which will be provided by the institute. Documentarians and bloggers are considered on a case-by-case basis. Commercial photography is not allowed. We ask that people read our photo policy before attending the event.
Will Celebration be broadcast?
Yes, SHI sponsors a broadcast on Alaska public television and a live webstream. The link will be posted to our website just prior to the event.
